About Dr. Hicks
Richard E Hicks, PhD has provided psychological services to adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings since 1998. He obtained his Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. He received his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
He is a NC Licensed Psychologist and Certified Healthcare Provider. While maintaining his private practice, he has also worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital, Central Regional Hospital, Whitaker PRTF, and UNC Outpatient Clinics. He has specialized training in treating anxiety and depression in adults, adolescents, and children; and he has extensive training and experience in couples work. He has served as Adjunct Associate Professor in the UNC School of Medicine, and he has taught several psychology courses at UNC. He is active in several professional and community organizations, and has served on the Board of the North Carolina Psychological Association and the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
